Climate change research in partnership with Thoreau

In Professor Richard Primack's Lab at Boston University, we study the effects of climate change on the timing of seasonal biological events and species diversity. By teaming up with Henry David Thoreau and other local naturalists, we investigate how climate change is affecting plants, insects and birds right here in the Boston area.

Four New Conservation Biology Books

Posted by Richard B. Primack

“In the summer we lay up a stock of experiences for winter, as a squirrel of nuts. Something for conversation in winter evenings.”  Henry David Thoreau

This autumn, four new conservation biology books have been published that I have worked on with colleagues:

1. Conservation Biology is an advanced graduate student textbook co-authored with Brad Cardinal and James Murdoch; published by Oxford University Press.

2. An Introduction to Conservation Biology, Second Edition is an undergraduate textbook co-authored with Anna Sher; published by Oxford University Press.

3. Conservation Biology in Sub-Saharan Africa is a free on-line textbook co-authored with Johnny Wilson. The book features over 50 case studies authored by African conservation biologists, and is published by Open Book publishers.

4. Introducción a la biología de la conservación is a Spanish language edition with a Latin American focus and examples, co-authored with Omar Vidal. The book is published by Fundo de Cultura Economica.
